My December Garden

Winter Roses ( More Winter Roses on this link )

The only roses that I allow to produce rose hips are the 'Iceberg' climbers

All the decorative grasses are wearing their Winter colors.

Oleander getting ready to throw their seeds throughout the garden.

Spoon daisies searching out the warmth of an old iron fence.

Loquats with their red and green holiday colors.

Boulders are magnets for any plant needing a bit of extra winter heat.

Pomegranates left for the birds in the winter.

Our flock of Acorn Woodpeckers love these!

The whole garden is pretty much in winter mode now.

The oaks are losing the last of their leaves.

The winter blooming Aloes have started to show off, giving the hummers

an alternate food source from the feeders.

Exotic Costco mushrooms growing in a succulent bed.

Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba' babies in their striped attire,

spend the winter growing bigger and bigger.

Jade plants are in full bloom for the holiday.

No guests at the side patio table, but the Euryops keep hoping someone

will come by to admire their pretty faces.

Lemons are loving the cooler weather and ripening right in time for the holiday.

The tomato graveyard.  Some of the best tomatoes I have ever grown

were from volunteers from the past season's dead soldiers.

If the temps stay this warm, I may just get one more batch of strawberries.

Perennial marigolds with their heavenly lemon scented foliage

to the left in the background.  If I could have only one plant,

this would probably be what I would choose.

And a closeup of the Tagetes lemonii.

My four year old Chinese Elms have wonderful color this year.

The wind came up on Sunday, so the leaves are pretty much gone now.
