We live very casually in Northern California, doors and windows open almost year round to our very hot Mediterranean climate. Most of my tablescapes are suited to our casual lifestyle, although you will see whimsical scapes that evoke memories of experiences past with elements of the "plain and fancy" mixed together.
I have two grown children, 4 grandchildren and a husband of 48 years. We built a house in the country five years ago and retired to the outer fringes of the San Francisco Bay Area.
If you have a question for me about posts on this blog or about dinnerware or life in general, please drop me a line at happenstancetlrt@gmail.com I'll get back to you as soon as I can. If you don't hear from me, leave me a comment on a post and I'll most likely cover your question as a response to a particular post.
Thanks for visiting,
Candy
I love your blog! With your attention to details and attraction to color you could be one of us Southern 'girls'! Our tastes are very similar and I applaud your everyday use of the beautiful things you possess.

(now residing in southern Indiana, where they have NO clue!)
Thanks Cheryl, I'm so glad you are enjoying my blog!
ReplyDeleteLOL about Indiana! (Same could be said for central Illinois where I spent some time years ago!)
I'm originally from western Kansas, spent most of my childhood in Germany ..... so the mix of country kitchen and olde world eclectic decor is really a result of where I've been in my lifetime. Then mix in the last 30 years in Calfiornia ...... well that has added color!

Oh how your Little Round Table Blog has inspired me...and then I saw your kitchen, it took my breath away. My kitchen/dinning room, here in the woods, had a 16 foot ceiling until I built a loft over the kitchen. Once my husband gets a look at your kitchen he'll be ready to pull the loft out. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteSussi
Welcome Sussi! Pull out the loft? Hmmmm, sounds like a plan to me, especially if DH is a willing participant. :-)
ReplyDeleteCandy
I had to investigate about you when I saw your incredible kitchen! It is interesting where people come from (from where people come...we don't end sentences with prepositions, so we?!)
ReplyDeleteI have a clue but not enough money LOL! Having a clue is priceless I guess :)
Welcome Auntie Bliss!
ReplyDeleteHope you'll stop back again sometime soon.
Candy

ReplyDeleteI love my kitchen too! And I'm pleased that you enjoyed seeing my puppets too.
Candy
Oooh I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE your kitchen! I just stumbled over your blog and have been enchanted by it! Your gardens are magnificent! Gorgeous! Two raised gardens are on my list of to do's for the spring -you gave me some inspiration and ideas!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Erin! I hope you'll come back and visit often.
ReplyDeleteCandy
Just found your site. Wish you had an email subscription option, no time for readers.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

I was trying to figure out what color combinations I wanted to start purchasing fiesta ware in. I already have some in a bright yellow but I knew I wanted to combine different colors together. I first stopped at Pinterest but didn't find what I was looking for so I goggled various phrases, the last one finally leading me to you. I am blown away at your loveliness. Thanks you so much for documenting as you do. I am also a tablecloth gal so I can't wait to spend some more time over the next several weeks reading and viewing your entire blog. Again, thank you for your work.
ReplyDeleteStumbled across your blog tonight (morning). I am mesmerized. Wow! Love your kitchen. I have always loved Fiesta Ware (though I really do not even have any). My "everyday" dishes are Nancy Calhoun and I have a large set and interchange 4 colors---so kinda like Fiesta Ware. I have been looking at your kitchen---amazing. Did I read correctly, I believe you said you were originally from Kansas. So interesting---I am also from KS, in fact currently live in Wichita. Where did you live?
ReplyDeleteLove your tables, creativity, storeage solutions, everything. I will be back to visit soon.
Girlfriend, I wish you lived down the road so we could share things. This blog makes me sooo
ReplyDeletehappy
Thanks ladies ...... these comments are really OLD and I do't know why Blogger just now began to feed them to me. I am pleased you have been enjoying TLRT. Tamra I was born in Dodge, lived in and around Kinsley and Ensign for about 3 years then moved away to Colorado, Europe, Chicago and California for the last 35+ years. :-)
ReplyDeleteI grew up across the Ohio River from the pottery where the Fiesta Ware is made. My mother had a nice collection. It's one of those things that sisters fight over when there is a "change" in the family. It reminds me of home. I was thrilled to find your blog dedicated to beautiful American-made china.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you found me Marta, please run over to Facebook and "Like" the page over there too. LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Candy,
ReplyDeleteI commented on your Deauville post recently, and then had a little extra time to peruse the rest of your sites...WOW! I bow to the Fiesta world you've created, and I want your kitchen! (kidding...well, not really, I WOULD love your kitchen if I could fit it into my little house, but I think it's not physically possible!)
I'm a transplanted Midwestern gal living in northern Cali too, Crockett to be exact, and have a very neglected blog ~ you've inspired me to see if I can revive it, so thanks! (www.SusabellaBrownstein.wordpress.com)
Keep up the beauty,
Subie
I'm happy that you are enjoying the blog, I have not worked on it as much over the last year. Dividing my time between the blog and Facebook, Facebook is so much more instant, but also fleeting and impermanent.
