Unlike all of you who have been snowed under this winter season, it
has been consistantly cool here in Northern California,
but not cold enough to send my roses into dormancy. My roses have
not had a rest since last winter, so I am officially declaring
January 16, 2011 the end of the 2010 Rose Garden season.
All the climbers were cut down today and I'll start on the other 100+
teas and floribundas tomorrow. Goodbye pretty blooms, see you again
in a couple months. The last stragglers cut yesterday.
This is my version of winter.
Thanks for coming by and stay safe and warm in those snowy climates!
So beautiful! I I just can't seem to grow roses in Savannah. Our Botanical Garden has beautiful roses. One gentleman and his staff keep them looking fantastic. Not me. One look at me and they wilt. Thanks for sharing these lovelies. ginger
ReplyDeleteSuch GLORY! You have been blessed with an amazing rose season. I was just working on a post that shows various spots of my home covered in snow and then what they look like in Spring - with the glory of nature. Your climate allows for such a lovely long season. So pleased to hear how much you enjoy it. As always, thanks so much for being a part of Seasonal Sundays!

Beautiful pics Candy! The roses look great and that bowl is beautiful-enjoy:@)
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty. I love them and what a pretty way to display them. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHi Brimfield Birdie! Those winter roses look lovely in your bowl. Thanks for giving us a glimpse of warmer days to come!
ReplyDeleteGood morning from California on a foggy morning!
ReplyDeleteThe sun is trying to break through and I'm hoping for another warm day to get some cleanup done in the garden.
Love my "Brimfield Birdie" bowl ..... Daphne was the one who arranged for this little birdie to come to live in California after spotting him at Brimfield a couple of years ago. :-)
Have a great day everyone,
Candy
Candy, I've just spent some time catching up on these wonderful posts that I've missed while out of town. Love the blue and orange! This view of your winter makes me want to pack my bags and move. LOL We are having typical gray, rainy January days. Your roses are beautiful in that precious little birdie bowl ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! Thanks for sharing--a nice sight indeed!
ReplyDeleteI love your version of winter - so much gentler!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful ~ I'll have to put on some rose scented hand lotion to complete the moment ... No roses growing outside here in upstate, NY. They are quietly waiting under the snow for springtime.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your blog very much ~ your tablescapes and beautiful tablecloths bring me back every time!
*Happy week to you*
~Maria
With more snow threatening in our forecast ... I'm liking your version of winter much better than ours!
ReplyDeleteAll of those colorful beauties blooming in your garden? That's really special. I only have the knockouts, and they are very active right now but don't last when they are cut so I just have to enjoy them through the window.
ReplyDeleteI thought I recognized the Brimfield birdie. :-) Candy I love that you share all the information about your roses with us. And how wonderful that they were still blooming. Hope you got the rest of them cut back today.
ReplyDeleteThe bowl looks great lovely colours
ReplyDeleteWow, those are all gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWinter roses are great. A little color when there isn't much color outside.
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific WW. :)
Beautiful roses, it's been about two months since my roses last bloom fell.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad you all enjoyed a last look at my 2010 roses! Soon enough they'll be coming back after a little rest from our year long growing season.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Spring!
Candy
I cut all my roses back this weekend as well...it's hard to do when they are still blooming...but you are right...they needa rest!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty bowl too. I miss my northern roses.
ReplyDeleteWe're having such warm temps in the 60's for the last few days, my poor babies are sooooo confused!
ReplyDeleteGotta be done though, weeded and cleaned up and ready to add the Bayer's All In One in about another month. Can't wait!
Candy
