I purchased this decorated trunk at the shop on French Blue Vintage several months ago.
It needed some cleaning and some small repairs to the strapping which had become
detached in several places. A little polish and half a dozen tiny brads and here it is just like new.
I don't know how old it is, but the minute I saw it , I knew exactly what kind of
treasures I would keep in it. It is 23" wide x 12" deep x 12" high.
A few weeks ago I shared a few of my childhood dolls that I just recently unpacked.
Just a temporary solution until I could get to the trunk cleaning and repair.
Most of my smaller dolls fit into this trunk, but I'll have to find an alternate
solution for some of the bigger ones.
And they all fit nicely lying down with the lid closed too!
Thanks for coming by for another Vintage Thingies Thursday,
hope to see you again next week!
That is excellent! Beautiful trunk, and what a great place for the vintage dolls!

ReplyDeleteNancy
Thanks for all your great comments on my dolls! I collected them during the years I lived overseas with my family after WWII. Some are a little tattered around the edges, but then so am I. :-)
ReplyDeleteAngela - Oh yes, I do know about the WV connection to Fiesta! I've been to WV many times to visit the factory and soak up the local history and of course add to my collection!
Candy
I LOVE that little trunk and how clever of you to store your dollies in it :)

Your truck is such a lovely piece. I'm sure the dolls love it there-they certainly look nice in there. What a fantastic collection of dolls too.
ReplyDeletewhat a great piece to display you dolls in!
ReplyDeleteThat trunk is outstanding in itself but with the dolls even more so. You did some nice work on it to make it look sharp. I had a doll collection one time and used an old wicker picnic basket for the display case. I enjoyed that. Great music too.

Oh Candy, What darling dolls. I love the Composite Dolls. That Trunk is probably from the late 60's early 70's. They had those at Service Merchandize..opne was like that and one was wood and leeather..my Mom got the leather one from my Dad.

ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness, I can't believe you have kept all of those wonderful dolls, and I can't believe what beautiful condition they are in! Your trunk was a wonderful find and a perfect way to display all of the dolls. (I hadn't seen your previous post, and I love the little dolls under the cloche too). I have a doll similar to the two that look kind of Asian. It belonged to my mother, and I treasure it. Thank you so much for linking this to Favorite Things Saturday. Have a great weekend. laurie
