The Little Blue Sewing Machine

I'm joining everyone over at Little Red House for another
beautiful Mosaic MondayCome on over and see all the pretties!

Blue Monday has rolled around again over at Smiling Sally!
Come on over and bring your BLUES with you!

I pretended to be a seamstress as a kid.  I wasn't very good at it, but I sure had a lot of fun.

It  used to have a little crank handle, but somewhere over time it has disappeared.

Thanks so much for stopping by for both of these weekly parties, hope to see you again soon.

  3. Cool comparison. I would think the newer models are so much easier to use.

  4. Nifty post, Candy... I did a double take when I saw it! That little snippet of fabric is almost exactly like the fabric I used in junior high for my very first sewing project... a sundress that would have been right at home on The Nightmare before Christmas. My sewing wasn't too bad, but my cutting lacked. Alot. It made me chuckle to think back to those days... thanks so much!

  5. Great pictures. I never had a small sewing machine, my Mother said I was to use her treadle. Wish I had that machine.

  23. Oh my! My little blue sewing machine is so proud to have garnered all this attention! Thank you all for coming by on this Monday party day!

Elaine - I love that fabric! about 12 years ago I made a whole slew of blankets and pillows for my firstborn grand daughter's baby dolls. A sundress? Well perhaps you should have done a tablecloth instead??? LOL I do soooo remember those horrible sewing classes - all that pulling out of boo-boos and working for perfection instead of making something easy and practical!

Grandma's treadle machine.....oh yes, both of my grandmothers had them. Had my dreams for grandma's machine, but my cousin got to it first! LOL

And Christine ..... "ancient" ..... well yes it is ancient, but then so am I! I've had it for about 60 years. Santa brought it to me when I was about 5!

  32. Oh, my goodness, Candy.....I have the same little sewing machine from my childhood pretend sewing, but mine is not an exciting blue like yours. Mine is the typical old black Singer ....but the handle is still working. It is one of my “treasures” as I call them. I love your precious blog look forward to returning to visit you in the days to come.

  34. Thanks to all of you for coming by to see one of my childhood treasures! And I do appreciate all your sweet comments.

Sarah, I'm the one who kept all this stuff ..... moved it from place to place with me from the time I went to college. I always needed the comfort of my "things" near me.
