Calming The Dish Pantry

I'm linking up to Funky Junk Interiors for this week's Saturday Night Special.

Jump on over to Savvy Southern Style for the new party Boring to Better

I'm joining all the make-overs and re-vamps with Susan for Metamorphosis Monday

A minimalist I'm not.  I like a lot of "stuff" and "things" around me, lots of visual
impact and eye candy around my house.  But during the holidays, it sometimes becomes
just way too much with the addition of the holiday boughs and baubles, cakes and
cookies, garlands and gifts, plus the toys and tchotkes. And then there is the TREE.

In the interest of calming a major part of this visual overload I  put simple panels of fabric on
cafe rods in the dish storage cupboard and closets in the pantry hall. For about $50 I have
hidden some of the clutter of all those dishes and accessories used for our everyday dishes.

more of my vintage pottery collection.

  1. Hi Candy! What a gorgeous tree! Now as much as I love seeing all your wonderful dishes I love love your fabric behind the glass doors! So nice. I did this to a little built in desk area with cabinets above in my breakfast room.
    Love your home.

  10. Your cabinet curtains are fabulous, Candy, and so is the storage! Is that this year's tree?

  11. I like seeing your dishes too, but then I don't live with looking them everyday.I can imagine the fabric tones down all the brilliant colors and allows to you focus on one color or theme for the holidays. It's a nice change. Good thing is you can undo and look at all the pretty colors later. Love everything you do! Hugs and Blessings!~Ames

  16. Thank you all for coming by. ... I'm loving the calmer look of the dish cabinets, but it is not a permanent thing. That's what I love about it, I can take them down when the mood strikes or change the fabric for yet another look without a big investment of time or money!

That's last year's tree ..... hoping to bring a new look to my tree this year, just need to get to work on it and stop thinking and talking about it. I need to get to the "do it" stage!

Mar - I think you must mean the mirror in the sidebar??? I've had that for probably 20 years and I think it came from Horchow if I remember correctly. This is the third house it has lived in with us. :-)

I love my curtains in my cabinets! Originally I thought I might remove them after the holidays, but I am still enjoying them as Spring approaches.
