Lobster With Vera

Moving on from a major case of sugar overload for this post Valentine's Day tablescape.
Our two week respite from fog and the winter rains is over too!
A full week, at least, of rain is forecast, so it's time to cozy up in the kitchen
and sit down to a nice meal.

The Pomegranate 'Wonderful' is just beginning to leaf out in my garden.
The tiny red leaves are a reminder that there will be lovely fruits again this Fall.

Fiesta and Fiestaware2000 (a short lived line of dinnerware also from
Homer Laughlin) sit atop a vintage tablecloth featuring stylized
pomegranates designed by Vera Neumann. Have a nice glass of chilled
wine while I finish up the details on the lobster salad and rice pilaf served
with artisanal bread. The little crown bowls are perfect for dipping sauces,
melted butter or a side of salad dressing.

Tablecloth is vintage Vera

Thanks so much for stopping by again this week!

  1. I love this table. It's soothing with the juniper and white. You always find such neat things at Home Goods. I wish we had one of those around here.

    Happy Valentine's Day!

  7. Hello Candy,
you really play in a vituoso way with your Fiesta dishes. So many colors and shapes, I am always thrilled. I do not need any Lobster, just to sit and to havea look of your pretty table is refreshment enough.
    Greetings, Johanna

  8. I'll have to google that line of Fiestaware to see why it was so short lived. You have me curious. I love the white lacy chargers. Very pretty!

  11. Oh man this was a delicious meal!! We actually had our Valentine's day dinner on Friday and I had about a tail and a half left over. I ended up just doing a quick sauté with butter and garlic! Magnificent!

Pam - Fiestaware2000 was designed by Jonathan Parry the former art director of HLC, who passed away about the time this line was just getting off the ground. The few items made were available in Cobalt, Persimmon, Pearl Gray and Juniper, with the Sunflower tall pitchers made for a charity auction.

    Thanks again everyone!

  13. Oh you bloggers who have a Home Goods store nearby just don't know how lucky you are. I so wish there was one around here. Those chargers and pierced plates are so pretty. I was admiring the cute little crown bowls, and couldn't believe that they were only $1! I'm going to have to check Michaels to see if I can find those. Your tablescape is wonderful, and your dinner sounds fabulous! Thank you for linking this to Favorite Things. Have a great weekend. laurie

  14. Thanks Vanna!

Good Morning Laurie - I love my HG store! Sometimes I think I should just pack a bag and move into the store, rather than bring things home with me. :-)
