Some of you may have visited my post a couple weeks ago about the California quail
that visit our birdseed bowls several times a day. They continue to increase in number
and are here pretty much all the time now. They are extremely sensitive to movement
and noise in the house, but are getting braver as time goes on.
Still can't get them from outside, so the through the window is the only way I can catch them.
Yesterday there were about 200 in the garden, but they seem to eat in shifts, so not all
of them are on the patio at any given time. They post some lookouts along the garden
wall who continually call out warnings or a call to arms ...... the word has gone out
on the quail telegraph line and more appear each day.
How lucky you are to have such fine feathered friends visit your patio! Great photos, through the glass.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful to see all those quail. What do you feed them?
ReplyDeleteMorning!
ReplyDeleteThese guys are just so comical! I'm glad you enjoyed them. Linda, I don't really feed them....they are just taking the opportunity to take their fair share of the bird seed that I put out for the rest of the birds. I use a mix of the bulk wild bird seed and then buy a couple smaller bags of the good stuff with sunflower seeds and dried fruits/nuts to mix into it. The Quail actually seem to prefer plain old birdseed, not the special mixes.
