The Haunted Gingerbread House

My 2008 Gingerbread House started out looking like this:

For Halloween 2009 Ms Witchie did what so many in Blogland do
.... she redecorated for the holidays!

Also like so many in Blogland, she wasn't quite satisfied with the results so she
has done a makeover for 2010.  She has replenished all the adornments to attract
even more unsuspecting Trick or Treat participants to her house of horrors.

"Nibble, nibble, little mouse,
Who is nibbling at my house?"

The ghastly Pool of Blood is even deeper than it was last year!

Enter if you dare ..... but don't let your children visit Ms Witchie alone!
Please stop back all week long for more Halloween treats!

Be Careful Out There!

It's a week of spookiness and ghoulish goings on!

Join me over at Smiling Sally for Blue Monday
and

Scary during the daytime, OFF LIMITS at night!

And things are prowling in the garden at night too, so be careful out there!

Thanks for stopping by, come back all week long for more Halloween stuff!

I'm joining Chari over at Happy To Design for her weekly party Sunday Favorites
and Seasonal Sundays over at The Tablescaper

Black and White and Red All Over
A Ghoulish Dinner Party

Today's dinner is prix fixe * and the price is ...... well perhaps you aren't willing
to risk life and limb for today's gourmet delights, but should you care to join me
at the table you should be prepared to risk it all for this once in a short lifetime
chance to dine with our ghoulish hostess.

Martha Stewart's Spider Web tablecloth is decked out in Post 86 Fiesta in White,
Black and Scarlet, along with Scarlet "Heart" Bowls for the gently sauteed heart
listed on the menu. The new Square Fiesta in Scarlet will be used for the still
pulsing Blood Sausage.....yum!!

The Black Kenilworth Carafe by Homer Laughlin China holds the Blood Red Wine
right from the vein, properly "decanted"  served in the exclusive Spider Web Goblinets.
The wine is fresh and organically certified by the FDA, not aged for a minute and
brought to tableside by your server directly from the vein.  Fiesta Allspice is available
for diners who like a little extra zing.  The allspice provides a unique tang similar to that
found in a great Bloody Mary, which is available upon request with fresh bone marrow on the side.

* Place setting knives are not supplied by the proprietor, we have found that most of our guests prefer to bring their own personal knives.

Bone Appetit !

Thanks for coming by for Sunday Favorites, please stop back
all during the coming week for lots more scary Halloween posts!

A Chill In The Air

I'm joining Artie over at Color Outside The Lines for Vignette Fridays,
come join the fun!
and
Show and Tell Friday over at My Romantic Home

As Fall arrives in Northern California the days are still quite warm, the evening air
turns chilly thanks to the influence of the Delta Breeze sweeping in from San Francisco Bay,
and it's time to fire up the fireplace.

Happy Fall and thanks for stopping by again this week!

A couple of Fall-ish tablescapes posted this week here on TLRT
also  provide a view of Fall in California:

Down On The Farm

with a view of Fall in Northern California.  Cooler nights have arrived, but days are
still much like summer. My garden continues to produce wonderful fresh vegetables
and with temps down in the 80s the roses are coming out of their slumber from the heat
of summer. Sauces and such have been simmering on the stove all week as I put up
things to brighten up meals in the dark days of winter that will be here all too soon.

The vintage tablecloth is topped with a Post 86 large Pasta Bowl in Scarlet filled with
the bounty of  a fall garden.  Lemongrass, Turquoise and Scarlet Fiesta make up
the placesettings, with the addition of the bowl from the Diner line from Homer Laughlin.
The glass flowered tumblers are from Pfaltzgraff, flatware is Cityscape, napkins and Red
tumblers  from Home Goods and napkin rings from eBay.

Red sauce in the making.

Lots of salads on the menu at this time of year, especially using my favorite heirloom tomato 'Mexico.'
And the tomatillos made into fresh salsa verde are topping pans of chicken enchiladas.
The best sauce ever! Those dark green Pablano peppers add just the right secondary taste to the sauce along with some Cayenne and Jalepenos!

EDIT: I'm adding a picture of my farm sink after several requests to see it up close!

Thanks for coming by for another tablescape,
please stop back next week for lots of Halloween tables!

Serendipity

I'm joining Vintage Thingies Thursday again this week over at Coloradolady
If you were here last week for my post about my Tablecloth Keeper, then you can
share the joy of a new find.  It was serendipity for sure.  The matching Napkin Keeper
came from a completely different source in a different part of the country.

You can read the first chapter of this marriage of two different vintage thingies at
last week's post: Tablecloth Keeper

Smell the roses from my garden ...... Fall roses in California are some of the best!

Thanks so much for dropping by again this week!
