Pretty Holiday Parasite

We willingly bring this holiday parasite into our home every year.  The oak trees that grow on the back of our property shelter this traditional Christmas decoration in their branches.

DH cuts a big bunch each year and unlike the little dried out bunches you see at the grocer's,

this is lush and green.  Spread the love, kiss someone under the mistletow that you hold dear .

This is a vintage Vera mistletoe tablecloth that didn't make it out of the linen cupboard this year,

but was in use last year.

Fiesta Holly and Ribbons Tablescape

This vintage tablecloth is shown with Post 86 Fiesta decorated with the Holly and Ribbon decal.  The original version of this pattern had no ribbon and the holly leaves were slightly different as seen on the large disc pitcher.

The Pizza Tray shown as part of the centerpiece and the Presentation bowl with this treatment were Homer Laughlin China salaried employee gifts and not released for public sale.  The chrome ornament hanger is from Crate and Barrel, flatware is Cityscape, glassware from Pfaltzgraff.  Red bottle brush trees from Tuesday Morning, votives from Michael's.

This is one of two tables we'll be using for Christmas dinner.  The other will be posted on Christmas Day.

Cloche Stand-In for Metamorphosis Monday

Welcome to another Met Monday hosted by Susan at Between Naps On The Porch!  Join all the participants for great make-overs and inspiring ideas.

Since my search for the perfect cloche has been unsuccessful so far and with just a few days left before the holiday, I was forced to take a drastic step and pilfer the glass dome that has protected this little bear for the past 30 years.  A friend and I went to a holiday class at a local nursery and we each made one of these cute domed bear scenes.  Great memories ....... but I hope the little bear will shake off the upset and share his dome for just a few days.

I needed something to spruce up this antique dresser and here's what I came up with using the little bear's glass dome and a Swedish cake plate.

A mercury glass egg, some of my mother-in-law's inherited pearls, my mother's ring, a gaudy earring of mine from the 80s and some mini ornaments.

This Lenox "Holiday Nouveau" tablecloth lends itself to an old world look with the darker hues of red and green in the curly ribbons. It came from Tuesday Morning for $12!

Fiesta is pretty much always seen as a casual dinnerware line, but that doesn't mean it can't Go-Glam with the big girls!  Take the lead from a few vintage pieces like this Demitasse Cup and Saucer with matching B&B and Salad Plate.  Or the Ovenserve Cake Lifter or even the Fiesta Sweets Comport with the swirly gold decal.
