This week I'm highlighting a few more of my roses.

'Old Master'

 Red blend (hand colored red with white eye, yellow stamens, white stripes and a whitish reverse). Modern Cluster Flowered Floribunda, Hybridizer/Date: McGredy IV, New Zealand (Maxi x Evelyn Fison) x (Orange Sweetheart x Fruhlingsmorgen) Mild fragrance. Royal National Rose Society Trial Ground Certificate 1973

'Octoberfest'

Blended autumnal colors, Tall/Upright, Large, double. Petal Count: 35, Fragrance: Moderate fruity. Colors brighten in cool weather.

'Michelangelo'
Old-fashioned yellow blooms against dark green foliage make for great contrast. Great for cutting. Blooms are medium-sized and lightly fragranced. Blooms in flushes continuously and is heat tolerant.

Lowes no name

'Bolero'

Floribunda. White or white blend. Strong fragrance. Large, very full (41+ petals), in small clusters bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. Medium, spreading. Large, glossy, dark green foliage. Height of 3' to 4' (90 to 120 cm). USDA zone 6b through 9b

'Anne Harkness'
Floribunda apricot blend, slight fragrance, blooms throughout season, bred by Harkness 1979
Parentage: [Bobby Dazlzler x {(Manx Queen x Prima Ballerina) x (Chanelle x Piccadilly)]}

'Brigadoon'

Hybrid Tea Rose, Warriner, USA 1991 seedling x Pristine, Strong fragrance, Pink blend (Dark pink edges light pink and yellow center) All America Rose Selection 1992

'Hannah Gordon'
Floribunda, pink blend, slight fragrance, blooms throughout the season, bred by Kordes,

'Jeri Jennings'

Hybrid Musk, Arching, Yellow Blend, Very Fully Double, 4-5 Feet, Hybridizer: Paul Barden

'Julia Child'

Floribunda rose, 2005 All-America Rose Selection winner, clusters of 3 1/2-inch flowers, spicy licorice scent,. Zone 4(with protection) - 9

This Week In My Garden - April 25, 2011

Monday
Our continuing monsoons are beating up my roses, so I've resorted to

rescuing some of them to bring inside.

These little 'Pinky' roses are from a climber and look like crushed velvet

all huddled together in a crystal candy dish.

Sunshine is predicted for tomorrow ...... and now it is TOMORROW!

And there is lots of sunshine ..... wooohooo!

'Pinky' - climber

The Acorn Woodpeckers must be raising babies, as they visit the feeder bowl frequently during the day.  Very interesting characters with great personalities. They live here year round in colonies, with only one pair breeding per year.  The rest of the flock helps to tend the chicks, both feeding and babysitting the new members of the colony.

Aloe in bloom, and up close and personal they almost look like hot peppers.

Pine Cones and Pink For Christmas

I'm joining Seasonal Sunday over at The Tablescaper,

This vintage tablecloth is an example of my favorite kind of Christmas

tablecloth, still filled with holiday spirit, but not the traditional red

and green so often seen.  I use a lot of non-traditional colors for the

holidays to spice up The Little Round Table.

Little gift bags top the cutwork salad plates from Pier 1 last Spring.
Rose contemporary Fiests luncheon plates rest on the olive green chargers from 
Home Goods.  The twisted rope flatware was a great find on the internet.  The amber hobnail tumblers and napkins also came from Home Goods. 

Roses picked in my garden on a chilly December morning.

Vintage Kenilworth Carafe in pink from Homer Laughlin rests
on a 1900s Homer Laughlin Santa plate.

German St. Nicholas from my childhood.

A simple Ball jar with burlap and ribbon nestles a votive candle in
a bed of faux snow.  Epsom salts makes perfect snow!

Here's that Santa plate revealed.

Old and new things dress the kitchen in the Christmas spirit.
