Here's a favorite tablecloth with pomegranates from my garden last Fall. Shamrock and Yellow Post 86 Fiesta, with Cityscape flatware and contemporary glassware, napkins, and napkin rings from Home Goods.

It's not always about dishes with me, usually....but not always.  I do like my food to be brightly colored just like my dishes.  Here are some salsa makings from the garden.  My salsa recipe is very flexible: lots of HOT peppers, onions, tomatoes, cilantro in whatever proportion pleases your palette.

Lemons also from the garden.

And here's today's tablescape which echoes the brightly colored foods from the garden.

Saturday Rerun: Revisiting Hawaiian Daisy

This will be the third time around for this tablescape, but I'm rerunning it again because of the interest in the Hawaiian Daisy saucer posted in this past week's Vintage Thingies Thursday which was all about vintage Turquoise Fiesta.

Vintage tablecloth shown with Vintage Fiesta with the Hawaiian Daisy decal, Vintage Fiesta fruit bowls, Harlequin pitchers, Metlox candleholders, Deauville flatware, glassware from Home Goods, napkin rings from Bed Bath Beyond, and the open-work chargers are Made in China.  Silk flowers this time around because most of my roses have been fried by extreme temps this last week.

I'm thinking about using this same theme for an outdoor summer tablescape.

A table fit for Easter "island style."  Think sandy beach, warm

ocean breezes, swaying palms and an icy cocktail.

Acrylic green chargers, Rosenthal "Medallion" dinner plate, decorative salad plates

from Pier 1.  The divided fruit tray in the basket holder is from Target a couple of

years ago. It closely mimics some of the Post 86 Fiesta colors and the shape of the

vintage Fiesta divided relish tray, but is an imported look-a-like. Flatware and

napkins are from Home Goods, glassware and salt and pepper from Pier 1.

Fuzzy bunnies are from Pier 1.  Just toooo cute!

Tropical bird ceramic napkin rings came from eBay.

The colorful ceramic condiment tray also mimics some of the Fiesta colors, but
again is an import and not Fiesta.

These vintage nesting bowls are again not Fiesta.
Possibly Hall "Radiant" ware or Gaco look-alikes.

Wooden salad serving set is from South Africa.

Hand carved wooden pitcher and matching cups are from Jamaica,
the woven tray is from South Africa.

Striped candles were 2 for $1 from The Dollar Tree Store.

Thanks for visiting, what could be easier than "recycling" a tablescape for use in a new season???

This vintage California Hand Prints cloth has beautiful bright colors.  Here it is with Cinnabar, Chartreuse, and Shamrock Post 86 Fiesta, Cityscape flatware, glassware from Macy's and the napkin rings came from Crate & Barrel many years ago.  It's a very versatile cloth, what colors would you use with it?

Ducks are often the fall guys in the animal kingdom:
 bad weather - nice weather for ducks
powerlessness - lame duck
bad hair styles - ducktail
tasks that require no effort - duck soup
funny gait - duck walk
obliviousness - like water off a duck's back
final indignity, inglorious death - dead duck
when ducks triumph, it is only by chance, not skill - lucky duck
youthful gawkiness - (promise, turns out to be unfounded since the "duck" is a swan) - ugly duckling

This poor duck is so wet he's taken to wearing rain gear this year during our monsoons!
